A asercutter that I designed and built into my desk, from scratch.
The main concept here is that the main parts of the laser cutter are lasercut acrylic sheet, then glued together. So the laser cutter could replicate itself, not unlike the reprap family of 3D printers that are made from 3D printed parts. The overall cost of the machine with all controls is a bit over 500 USD, plus a compressor. Fume exhaust is a bit of a problem as you may expect but with the windows open it's fine. Fumes get extracted under the honeycomb and pushed outside through a flexible hose. Anybody interested in the Rhino files? Email me, make your own!
