Sala - Registered Nurse and Whitireia Graduate
Before studying, Sala was a stay-at-home mum, but after her husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer, she started looking for a career of her own. Her husband came out of remission, but Sala was still inspired to study. The Bachelor of Nursing Pacific seemed like the perfect way to find a rewarding career while reconnecting with her culture.
With four children, Sala has a lot of commitments to juggle. The support she received really helped her manage her studies; if she needed an extension because of a sick child, she would get it easily.
The work Sala does now "fills her cup" - patients arrive in pain, and leave with a smile on their faces. 'They come in crying; they go out smiling'.
