Snowflake Bubble Bath Salts: The Perfect Diy Gift!
I’m going to show you how to make snowflake bubbling salts! The salt makes a wonderful bubble bath and after, a lovely salt soak. Plus, there are snowflake soaps, too! These jars make wonderful little gifts for family members, associates, clients. Especially if you go to a Christmas party; it’s always a good idea to have something on hand, just in case.
BUBBLE BATH RECIPE: 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, 1/8 cup corn starch, {update: Recipe used to include 1 tablespoon Natrasorb, however Natrasorb is NOT necessary for this recipe}, 7.5 milliliters fragrance, 15 milliliters liquid Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or bubble bath, 5 milliliters polysorbate 80. Add liquid colorant to wet ingredients then add wet to dry, mix well. ***Dry mix overnight. ***Make sure this mix is completely dry before assembling jars so salts won't clump together.
SOAP: 3 ounces clear soap base + 5 milliliters fragrance. Melt soap, add mica & fragrance. The soaps aren’t necessary but I feel like they really tie everything together theme-wise. & I also feel like they make the gift that much more special & personalized. I suggest using clear soap; mica shows up much better.
PAINTING SOAPS: Painting the soaps are super easy, quick, & the soaps look so much better in the jar when they’re painted!! For the salts, pour 1 cup of Epsom salts in a bowl & add color. Then add 1/4 cup of the dried bubble bar mix to each 1 cup of salts.
PACKAGING I used 3 decorative salts to make layers, or breaks, in the jars. To assemble the jars: first put bubbling salt mix in, then shove 1 -2 soaps in the mix. Last, sprinkle some decorative salt against the glass. Repeat steps until jar is filled *** Make sure to fill the jars full to the top so even if you shake the jar, the layers won’t be disturbed. Finish the jar by adding some decorative salts & a pretty mini soap to the top. For packaging, tie raffia around lid for the label. Then place a large soap on top & tie a ribbon around it. I recommend a ribbon that has a light wire so it can be positioned. The snowflake bubbling salts worked wonderfully. They colored my bath water a gorgeous blue & smelled ahh-mazing!!
