"Hurtti-Ukko" - Finnish-war (1808-1809) song/poem [Sanat]+[Lyrics]
This is originally a poem written in Swedish by J.L.Runeberg in his work "Fänrik ståls sägner" (the tales of ensign Stål). This poem tells the tale of an older soldier in the war of 1808-1809 who already served in the war 1788-1790. The melody was composed by Karl Collan and it has been translated into Finnish by Paavo Cajander. The song is most commonly sung by a soloist with a piano but this version is for a male-choir.
