Anna Magnani: Simbolo di Roma
Anna Magnani ha segnato indelebilmente il Neorealismo italiano regalando al mondo indimenticabili interpretazioni.
Nacque a Roma nel 1908.
Ha portato sullo schermo una galleria di donne forti e struggenti. Come ebbe modo di definirla Federico Fellini, Lei è Roma, con quel di materno e di amaro, di mitologico e di devastato, che l'accomuna all'Urbe (quartiere romano). La sua regalità viene soprattutto quando usa le parole da trivio; le escono di bocca con grazia e levità impareggiabili, perfettamente fuse nel contesto e necessarie.
Debutta nel cinema nel 1934, ma solamente nel 1941 raggiunse una certa popolarità grazie a film come Teresa Venerdì' e Campo de fiori.
Il 1945 è l'anno in cui grazie al ruolo della popolana uccisa dai nazisti in Roma città aperta di Roberto Rossellini, avrà modo di dimostrare tutto il suo valore di attrice.
Indimenticabili furono le interpretazioni nei film 'Lonorevole Angelina', 'Assunta Spina', ' L'Amore' e soprattutto in 'Bellissima' di Luchino Visconti.
Nel 1955 la Magnani vola negli Stati Uniti e conquista il premio oscar (primo premio conferito ad un attrice italiana), per l'interpretazione di Serafina Delle Rose nel film 'La rosa tatuata'.
Il sodalizio con gli Stati Uniti dura fino al 1959.
'Selvaggio è il vento' con Anthony Quinn e 'Pelle di serpente' con Marlon Brando furono i suoi successivi film americani.
Altre indimenticabili interpretazioni furono 'Nella città l'inferno' e soprattutto 'Risate di gioia' insieme a Totò (vecchio compagno d'avanspettacolo) e 'Mamma Roma' di Pier Paolo Pasolini.
La sua frase più celebre fù: Non è il cinema che mi ha abbandonato. Sono io che abbandono il cinema, perchè il cinema è diventato povero, miserabile, pitocco, perchè continua a offrirmi personaggi che non sono creature umane, ma caricature, pupazzi imbecilli. E io la scema non la faccio.
Questa frase racconta un Anna Magnani triste, perchè negli ultimi anni della sua carriera il cinema non gli aveva prestato la dovuta attenzione.
Questa era Anna Magnani, donna di grande temperamento e carattere.
Muore a Roma nel 1973.

Anna Magnani, Italian neorealism indelibly marked, bringing to the screen a gallery of strong and poignant women.
She was born in Rome in 1908.
As Federico Fellini was able to define she:
"you are in Rome, with that of the maternal and bitter, mythological and devastated that the common Urbe (district of Rome). Her kingship is used especially when the words crossroads; out of the mouth with unrivaled grace and lightness, perfectly cast in the context and need"
Coming from the Variety show, she debuted in film in 1934 but only in 1941 reached a certain popularity with movies such as 'Do You Like Women' and 'The Peddler and the Lady'.
The 1945 is the year thanks to the role of the common people killed by the Nazis in 'Open City' by Roberto Rossellini, will be able to prove its worth as an actress.
Unforgettable were the performances in the film 'Angelina', 'Assunta Spina', 'Amore' and especially 'Bellissima' by Luchino Visconti.
In 1955, Magnani, flies in the U.S. and won the Academy Award winner (the first award given to an Italian actress) for her role as Serafina Delle Rose in the film The Rose Tattoo.
The partnership with the United States lasted until 1959.
'Wild Is the Wind' starring Anthony Quinn and 'The Fugitive Kind' with Marlon Brando, was her later American films.
Other memorable performances were: 'Hell in the city' and especially 'Joyful Laughter' together Totò (old vaudeville partner) and Pier Paolo Pasolini's Mamma Roma.
Her most famous phrase was:
"It's not the cinema that has forsaken me. I am who abandoned the cinema, because cinema has become poor, miserable beggar, because it continues to offer characters who are not humans, but caricatures, puppet idiots and I do not do stupid".
This phrase reveals an Anna Magnani sad, because in the last years of her career, the film had not given due attention.

Dead in Rome at 65 years old in 1973.
