I woke up in my hotel room,excited to leave the city behind and pedal towards Cuneo, marking the next leg of my journey. The morning began with a search for breakfast, which, to my surprise, was served by a waiter rather than the self-serve style I was accustomed to. The food was of high quality, featuring ice cream, donuts, and cakes. However, I couldn't help but notice the downside: supermarket food often results in an excess of plastic waste.
Feeling that the minimalistic breakfast wouldn't sustain me, I opted for a quick stop at Burger King before joining the EuroVelo route. As I made my way out of the city, I stumbled upon a charming replica of a medieval village along the riverbank. The exit from Turin was chill, with parks and forests providing a peaceful backdrop for my ride.
My route took me through a quaint village where I witnessed a true Italian wedding, with guests gathered outside the church in celebration.
A pleasant surprise awaited me at Ins Mercato, a mere 40 kilometers outside Turin, where grocery prices were significantly lower than in the city. Along the way, I paused to watch people enjoying the cool river water, a tempting respite from the heat.
As I drew closer to the mountains, the landscape transformed, offering new sight that differed from the previous weeks. The proximity to the mountains also meant less daylight, as the sun dipped behind the peaks earlier in the evening. By 7 pm, it was time to scout for a camping spot. At 9 pm, I took a risk and settled on a farm field where I could camp for the night.
I set up my camp with a bivy and a new bug net, an upgrade from my makeshift hammock bug net. Since my camp was exposed to a nearby farm, I had to forgo using any light and waited for darkness to envelop me. The plan was to wake up extra early the next day, ready to conquer the 90 kilometers to Cuneo.

EuroVelo 8 (EV8), named the Mediterranean Route, is a 7,560 km long EuroVelo long-distance cycling route running from Cadiz, Spain to Athens, Greece, and then continuing to İzmir, Turkey and to the island of Cyprus. The route runs east-west across Europe mainly along or close to the Mediterranean coast, passing successively through 12 countries: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus
