A group of researchers were interested in understanding how water boiled when heated within a very thin glass chamber. I created a ~ 1 inch by ~ 1 inch cuvette with 1 mm thick chamber by super-gluing glass slides together, and then used tap water and hot plate to investigate the boiling process. You can see nicely the formation and destruction of vapor bubbles. The record speed of this video was 9300 frames per second.
The cuvette was heated from the bottom using a standard lab hot plate.
