Der Triftgletscher im Berner Oberland südlich des Gadmentals grenzt im Osten an den Kanton Uri und im Südosten an den Kanton Wallis. Am Zungenende dieses typischen Talgletschers hat sich hinter dem Felsriegel der Windegg ein See gebildet. Seinen Abfluss überquert eine Hängebrücke, die Triftbrücke (1'716 m ü. M.).
Das Gwächtenhorn (3'214 m ü. M.) und das Diechterhorn (3'389 m ü. M.) prägen die Westflanke des Triftgletschers. Im Osten türmt sich der Wysse Nollen (3'398 m ü. M.) und im Süden der Tieralplistock (3'383 m ü. M.). Unter dem Wysse Nollen erstreckt sich der Triftsack, ein Kar, das auf drei Seiten von 300 m hohen Felswänden eingekesselt ist.
The Trift Glacier is located in the Bernese Oberland south of the Gadmental valley. This valley glacier borders on the canton of Uri in the east and the canton of Valais in the southeast. At the end of the glacier tongue, behind the rocky wall of the Windegg, a lake formed. A suspension bridge, the Triftbrücke (1,716 m above sea level), leads across its outlet.
Above the western flank of the Trift Glacier rise the Gwächtenhorn (3,214 m above sea level) and the Diechterhorn (3,389 m above sea level). East of it are the Wysse Nollen (3,398 m above sea level), and south of it, the Tieralplistock (3,383 m above sea level). Below the Wysse Nollen is the Triftsack, a cirque that is surrounded by steep, 300-m-high rock faces on three sides.
