COCKRELL BUTTERFLY CENTER|HOUSTON, TEXAS
The Cockrell Butterfly Center is located inside of the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Houston, Texas. This place is a butterfly lovers dream! Prior to watching the live butterflies flutter around you, inside is a wealth of knowledge on insects and butterflies. Several exhibits with live insects can be found. Outside of this 3 story glass structure is a 50 foot waterfall. The temperature is slightly humid but not bothersome. As you look around, you notice that this simulated tropical rain forest is filled with beautiful exotic lush plants and home to hundreds of live butterflies! I fell in love with butterflies all over again! I’ve never seen this many butterflies in one setting ever! It was magical! I didn’t want to leave! A few reptiles can be found in this rainforest as well. If you’re ever in Houston, Texas and you love nature, exotic plants and live butterflies….this place is definitely worth your time!
