Ever met a kid who’s obsessed with dinosaurs, video games, or trains? That deep focus isn’t stubbornness—it’s brain chemistry at work! 🧠✨ Hyperfixation is the brain seeking dopamine, the reward chemical that helps with focus, memory, and motivation. And instead of shutting it down, we can actually harness it to help kids learn and grow!

🔹 Research from the Autism Research Journal shows that forcing kids to abandon their special interests can increase anxiety.
🔹 Honoring those fixations helps kids develop focus and motivation in other areas, not just the thing they’re fixated on!
🔹 We can use these interests to make learning more engaging—like doing math with dinosaurs or writing a story about their favorite video game character!

Instead of shutting down a child’s deep passions, let’s use them as learning tools to build lifelong skills! 🏆
