Surviving Voices: Luz María Dollero
150 million girls and 73 million boys suffer sexual violence every year. 7 out of 10 cases are committed by family members or close friends.
Luz María Dollero was no exception. She suffered sexual violence from a very young age at the hands of two uncles.
When she decided to speak out, she received no protection or support to heal, and this created new wounds. Silence and the normalization of violence are also forms of abuse that are deeply damaging.
Today, inspired by her daughters, who taught her to love and made her feel unconditionally loved, she breaks the silence and speaks out firmly, willing to defend children at all costs.
Her story is part of the #VocesSobrevivientes campaign, a series of seven testimonies that seek to shed light on child sexual violence and end the silence that perpetuates it.
