"Yes, but these are different units altogether and I..."

Benedictus interrupted. "No, I'm not asking you to do that again--at least not right now. SINCGARS is notorious for not playing standard broadcasts including music. They are also notorious for not being compatible or connectable to a lot of things. We are going to mix it up and pass it on so that hopefully the other units follow suit." A smile spread across his face and waving his hands slowly and dramatically in Captain Kirk fashion Benedictus said, "I...have...a...plan."

"Your acting sucks."

"Yeah, I know. You should see my writing--people think I've been a lying idiot decades and yet here we are."

"Touche."

"Damont continue monitoring." To Monroe and the other three commanders he said, "Follow me around the tent to look at some stuff. We need to see what you have so that I know if I need to have Damont or one of your techies to fabricate certain things." Benedictus first brought them over to an operable but currently dark SINCGARS rack containing six individual units two of which had standard PTT headsets attached. He removed one of the headsets and held up the connector end and pointed at the connector on the radio as well. "These may have different designations but I know them as 5 or 6 pin U-229 connectors on a VIC-1 system. Usually 6 is non-standard and a spare and I see that two of your radios have them. This is actually good but later--just the basics. They are used for audio, data, and fill. Obviously, you see the difference. But conversion to connect to most civilian devices also requires a PTT switch, a TRRS connector and a means of regulating or modifying impedance. This can be done but I also want to connect various radios and computers and possibly other equipment to stir the commo and device recognition. For that we will need a type of switch box or panel with multiple connection in between--like a switchboard operator only jumbled. We can also easily regulate impedance from this switchboard via built-in potentiometers and dials if not have Damont rig some automatic regulation in. Depends upon what resources we have." He pointed at an IBM computer next to the rack and continued. "In addition, I want to lower the core voltage to 3.45V or lower on one or two computers having i486dx2 chipsets so we have to have the covers loose for rapid jumper switching back to 5V. I want digital commo to be as indistinguishable as possible so the lower the better. This can be done for the chipset via jumpers on most systems. However, I still want to make some small inline voltage regulators to prevent side leakage of information and mask clock frequency by adding a little noise. How are you tracking so far?"

To be continued...
