The current frequency of language usage on the Web, with e.g. 52% of Web sites in English, doesn't reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic needs crucial for global web access. This underscores the importance of internationalization and, last month, Fuqiao Xue, the new W3C Internationalization activity lead, gave a comprehensive report of past and future internationalization work, , collaborating with spec and browser developers to address gaps, particularly for endangered scripts and languages.
