Popularly known as the Rio–Niterói Bridge, the President Costa e Silva Bridge is a bridge that crosses Guanabara Bay,
in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It connects the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. Currently, it is the largest concrete bridge ever built in the Southern Hemisphere and the sixth largest in the world. From its completion in 1974 until 1985, it held the title of second largest bridge in the world, losing only to the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the United States.

The concept of its design dates back to 1875, aiming to connect the two neighboring urban centers, separated by Guanabara Bay
or by a land journey of more than 100 km, which passed through the municipality of Magé. At the time, the construction of a bridge and, later, a tunnel had been conceived.
