Attempt to Steal a Baby Goes Horribly Wrong
Twenty-one-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock was nearly eight months pregnant in October of 2020 when a woman she thought of as a friend stabbed her over 100 times and bludgeoned her with a hammer in an attempt to steal her unborn baby. She was found covered in blood in her New Boston, Texas home at around the same time police pulled over her k1ller, 29-year-old Taylor Rene Parker, for speeding. Neither of the victims survived, and Parker eventually admitted that she had attacked Simmons-Hancock after initially claiming that she was the child’s mother and had given birth on the side of the road. In reality, the mother-of-two couldn’t have any more children, but she was afraid of losing her boyfriend. For 10 months leading up to Simmons-Hancock’s mvrder, Parker had faked a pregnancy, posting bogus updates on social media and even throwing herself a gender reveal party. The accused killer pleaded not guilty to capital mvrder, despite her admission during questioning. During Parker’s trial in October of 2022, prosecutors sought the death penalty while the defense tried to spare her from it. She was found guilty as charged and sentenced to death.
