A key emotion that motivates us is likely to be scary, dangerous, painful, or threatening. Because we were prey, the downside of fear is that it feels like home - because we expected to be eaten. Fear kept us alive as we huddled in caves and yurts. Even after we fashioned weapons and taught ourselves the value of violence, fear remained a dark hole into which our souls could disappear. Fear is the mind-killer, a cause of flaws, failure and religion.
Today, we amuse ourselves with echoes of this key domain that mockers us to commit shameful, repulsive, secret and vile acts. Teasing in order to provoke, celebrations of horror remind us of the power of fear, if we marshal our will to live free. And yet, fear is always present, like a law of physics, never sleeps.

Ruin | Fear 4
Sadly, life has become a race to accumulate as much as we can before we die. We horde money, love, stuff and power – the trappings of adjusted income – markers of a society that fears ruin. Simplicity is not failure, and less is not always less.
Regret | Fear 5
Satisfaction is distorted by regret concerning our decisions, as if each splinter of time could be (or should be) regulated by choice – resulting in a paralysis as it’s unreasonable to deliver a verdict without the passage of time. When we yield, we must live with regret.
Rejection | Fear 9
Armed with confidence, insight, wit and charm, we present ourselves as desirable – worthy of an investment of time, money, mind or passion. To be admired, loved, valued or embraced – this is our desire. Yet, we often do not ask for what we want – for fear of rejection or dismissal – yielding self-doubt and never realizing our dream.

Breathe in and breathe out. An automatic function our bodies acknowledge without question. After that breather, we are burdened with expectations, debt, doubt, projections, anticipation, guilt, threats, knowledge, relationships, health issues, learned experience, children and sex. We own the world, and must figure out how to pay for it all.
The FEAR Quartet was created using a custom AI text/image/video to video application where media input integrated with text prompts, can be staged into “storyboard” style scenes and adjusted via over 200 command line variables. This painstaking process demands that the artist mingle their intuition with the imagination of the machine.
