A non-producing oil platform owned by Mariner Energy has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.- Engineers will take the cap off the blown-out Deepwater Horizon oil well today so the blowout preventer - a key piece of evidence in the April 5 explosion -- can be removed. Sen Richard Burr, R-N.C, is in line to succeed Lisa Murkowski as ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, but his staf says he's concentrating on his re-election bid , not the upcoming Congress.- Alabama and Tennessee officials are feeling left out of the EPA's hearings on potential regulation of coal ash.
