Auto exposure and cinematography aren’t exactly two concepts that go well together. Unlike photography, where every image stands alone and can be processed individually, changes to exposure, depth of field, and shutter speed, can have a dramatic and visible impact on the movie. However, while the EOS R5C and Canon’s Cinema EOS OS doesn’t make using auto exposure as easy as their photo cameras do, the cameras are still capable of it.
This time we’re looking at the 3 auto exposure capabilities of the R5C; auto ISO, auto Iris, and single shot push auto Iris. Additionally we’ll look at how to adjust the autoexposure response, as well as how to control exposure compensation.
