❓FAQs
Q1: How does Google Ads billing work in 2025?
On automatic payments, Google charges you when you hit a billing threshold or when your billing cycle ends, whichever comes first.
Q2: What is a billing threshold in Google Ads?
It’s the spend level that triggers a charge. New accounts start with smaller thresholds that can rise after successful payments.
Q3: What is overdelivery and will it blow my budget?
Google may spend more on busy days (sometimes up to about 2x your daily budget), but it aims to stay within your monthly spend limit.
Q4: Automatic payments vs manual payments, which one should I use?
Automatic is spend first, pay after. Manual is prepay (add funds first), which can feel simpler if you want tighter cash flow control.
Q5: Where do I find invoices and receipts?
Go to Billing, then Documents to download invoices, receipts, and tax paperwork like VAT invoices (if applicable).
Q6: Why is my Google Ads bill higher than expected?
Usually it’s overdelivery, taxes or regulatory fees, currency conversion, or multiple campaigns spending at once. Check Billing summary and Adjustments.
Q7: Can I switch payment methods or payment type?
You can usually update your card/bank details any time, and sometimes switch between automatic and manual payments depending on your account and country.
Q8: Does Google refund invalid clicks?
Most of the time you’ll see credits under Adjustments for invalid traffic, rather than a separate refund back to your card.
