Delighted to share my new song Gravity. Performed live from St John’s in Hoxton. Filmed by the wonderful Max from Go Out of Tune. An insight into the lyrics below (feat. Spoilers to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon!)
So I’m gonna be straight up and honest about this. I get this pretty heavy feeling sometimes that I’m just done. Like I want to just stop. Not necessarily that I want to erase my existence from the world just…I don’t know…transcend into another body or another time or something. It’s weird because, and again, I’ll be straight up about this, 95% of the time I struggle to feel any kind of emotion whatsoever, so it just comes out of the blue mostly.
It would be great just to float, just to be in a perpetual state of just…I don’t know…being outside of the sort of world of social media and influencer culture and anxiety, and people tearing each other’s throats out, etc etc etc. The ending of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, where she jumps off a bridge but transcends to another realm, that, that would be lovely, or just being able to jump into photographs and pictures ala Supio Mario 64 and just like…live in that moment forever.
So this song is my attempt to put ALLLL that to music. I don’t know if it works, I think it does, it might also be the sound of an existential crisis in a weird tuning but hey!
Again, Max and the guys did an amazing job so massive kudos. They’ll be another church vid in a month or so where I tackle the sublime and ridiculous vocals of Chris Cornell in Say Hello2 Heaven, look out for that.
PS- I’m aware tin doesn’t rust, I’m taking artistic Wizard of Oz based license!

Lyrics:
I am made of stone, I am frozen, I’m a weather beaten memory, I’m proud but I am stoic, I’m unmoving, but I stand alone, I am but flawed flesh and bone.
Inositol eyeballs and my weathervane brain, and the underlying itch, the wish to run away, not to find a resolution, not to find an escape but to be lost in another place.
There’s an imposter in the corner, an over thinker drawing near, and they’re the alter egos I fear, but they’re standing on my shoulder and they’re holding up mirrors but all I’ve got is broken glass.
Cut hands, puzzle pieces and battle scars.
But I live for the moments, so gimme your vignettes, I don’t remember colours, but I remember the silhouettes.
Cos I wanna jump from a bridge, but I don’t wanna hit the water, so come on give me gravity that sweet sweet purgatory. I’ll exist in the spaces between, where the skyline caresses the sea, I’m a shadow, I’m an echo, I’m a whisper, I’m a vesper, I’m a dream.
I am made of dust, I’m a shadow in a city of electric lights, every soul a flicker, a fire undiscovered, and the lava of the street flows down quietly and I am stranded. With a tinman’s heart of rust.
Cos blood and sweat is my currency, the tiktiktok of my anxious heart bankrolling me down and out, into the cold cold morning. Cos everyone’s either settled or lost, so whatcha gonna pick, and stand up to pitch, and here comes the splitter, here comes the kicker, all you ever do is stand and shiver. So let’s stand and deliver, take what you want, stand and deliver, I ain’t got a lot.
But I’m keeping my polaroids, my prisoners in frame, and when the world keeps spinning, they are frozen the same.
But I am made of stone.
