I show you exactly where to select campaigns, duplicate, rename, and keep them paused so nothing goes live by mistake.
You’ll learn what usually copies over (ads, keyword lists, ad groups, URLs) and what I always check before enabling (budget, bidding, locations).
I also cover how the same steps work if you want to clone an ad or an ad group inside your Google Ads account.

Q1 What’s the fastest way to duplicate a campaign in Google Ads?
I go to Campaigns, tick the box to select campaigns, then use Edit to Copy and then Paste. I renamed it right away so it’s clearly the new campaign. I keep it paused until I’ve checked the basics.
Q2 Where is the copy button in Google Ads?
After I tick the checkbox next to the campaign, I click Edit. Inside that menu, there’s a Copy option. Once I click close, Paste appears a moment later.
Q3 Why should I pause the duplicated campaign first?
Because it stops the clone campaign from also duplicate ad groups and ads going live with the same settings by accident. It also gives me time to check bidding, budget, and targeting. I only enable it once I’m happy it won’t overlap too much.
Q4 What does the duplicated campaign look like after it’s copied?
Google Ads usually adds “Copy” or a “2” next to the campaign name. If I can’t see it, I change my view to show Enabled and Paused. Then it pops up in the list.
Q5 Does duplicating a campaign copy?
Yes, it normally copies the whole structure including ad groups and ads. It also carries across most settings and often your keyword targeting. I still spot-check URLs and anything that controls delivery.
Q6 Can I duplicate an ad instead of a whole campaign?
Yes. I use the same approach: tick the checkbox next to the ad, then Edit to Copy, then Paste. I can paste it into another ad group if I want.
Q7 Can I duplicate an ad group in Google Ads?
Yes, the same copy and paste steps work for ad groups. That’s handy if I’m cloning a theme or a keyword set. I just make sure the new ad group has a clear purpose.
Q8 What should I change before enabling the new campaign?
I check the budget, bidding strategy, locations, and any dates or schedules first. Then I look at keyword overlap to avoid competing with my existing campaign. Finally, I review URLs and tracking so reporting stays clean.
