Landscape Photography Can Be Challenging
It's no secret that landscape photography can be challenging. When I was out on this shoot, I knew it was going to be a difficult one. There are a lot of angles that this lighthouse can be shot from--some from the ground, some from up in the dunes.
With the sun being so far out from my subject, I had to make a decision: do I try to keep the sun in the frame, or do I come in closer and get just the clouds? Or should I do both? In the end, I chose to do both--and I think that was the right choice.
I like this area a lot, because I took what I consider to be my first "good" photo here. I still don't feel like I'm finished with this location, so I'm sure I'll be back at some point in the future. I also want to do some long exposure work from the same area, to see what the differences are.
Ultimately, I hope the takeaway that people get from this video is that while some locations can be challenging to shoot, persevere through that challenge--because you might be surprised with the result you get.
