The Systema is a Russian martial art that gives the impression to the non-practitioners that it is a dance, but one should not trust appearances. It is a formidable martial art that elite troops practice, but it is confusing because the simpler it is and the more effective it is, we play a lot on the neurological side. It is very effective in self defense because we all use our bodies: head butt, shoulder butt, chest butt, knee butt, hip butt, thigh butt, knee butt, shin butt, kick etc.... We use many keys of fingers, elbows, cervicals, shoulders, knees, ankles etc.... Projections, rolls and Russian are part of our toolbox we don't have a ban the only limit we have is kindness as much as possible.
A beautiful sentence by Mikhail RYABKO that I appreciate very much says "does not destroy the person destroys his intention"

In systema we learn through principles and not techniques, there are no grades or katas. Everyone is your instructor and the one who really tries to fight you is your best instructor, we work a lot on the ego. Our trainings are often slow to accelerate gradually once the gesture is mentally acquired (neurotags of the path recorded and mirror neurons activated) felt and understood by our body.

The 4 basic principles are:

Breathing: especially nose breathing blocks the beginning of the continuous movement
Mobility: continuous movement and development of body mobility
Structure: the more correct our posture is, the more effective our actions can be and the stronger we are and the less vulnerable we are.
Muscle and mental relaxation: the body must learn to defend itself on its own, which is why we work with many more or less exotic utensils (knife, long stick, short stick, chain, whip, shovel etc...). Learning with many different things enriches our toolbox which is intended to be less frightened during a confrontation.

The advantage of the systema also lies in the fact that it is not only a martial art to kill or destroy, it is a martial art that allows:
to live in full awareness of the dangers without becoming paranoid
to get to know each other
to develop humanely
gain mobility without age limits because we need to be mobile on all six body levers (elbows, elbows, elbows, knees, waist, ankles and shoulders)
to become aware of your fears and try to overcome them
to learn to massage (therefore to understand by touching the opponent's painful points) and to massage yourself
to breathe better works on different explosive breaths, cardiac coherences Wim Hof etc....
to become aware of his posture and try to improve it
be effective in conflict situations or in everyday life
to teach the body to take the blows both mentally and physically
learn and try to understand biomechanics
