Here's a demo of painting a canyon scene using soft pastels. I started out by sketching in my composition using a dark purple Great American pastel and an isopropyl alcohol wash to set it. Once that dried, it was time to play with soft pastels!
Supplies used:
*UArt 400 sanded paper
*Synthetic paintbrush
*Prismacolor NuPastels
*Soft pastels (various brands - I typically use Great American, Richeson, Terry Ludwig, Unison, Blue Earth, and Mount Vision)
*Isopropyl alcohol (you can also use water)
