In Asakusa, an old Tokyo neighborhood very popular with tourists, it's common to see a certain type of handcart pulled by people. They're faster than walking, but more leisurely than a car ride, and they're the most fun way to explore the temples and shrines of this old neighborhood and its fascinating alleyways. Another attraction is the drivers who, as you pass by, offer an engaging and informative guide. We also visited a workshop where a highly skilled craftsman assembles these handcarts by hand and designs new types for weddings and special events, using exquisite color combinations and LED lights.
