What does the Bible actually mean when it says the wicked will be “destroyed”? In this study, we examine the Greek word apollymi (ἀπόλλυμι), used by Jesus and the apostles to describe destruction, perishing, and final ruin. We look at Matthew 10:28, John 3:16, Philippians 3:19, and 2 Thessalonians 1:9 to show that Scripture consistently teaches destruction, not eternal conscious torment. If words mean what they say, then destruction means an end, not endless suffering.

Unforsaken is dedicated to exegetical Bible study grounded in discernment, sound hermeneutics, and the authority of Scripture. Our mission is simple: to discover what the Bible actually says about doctrine by reading passages in context and allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture.

We are not interested in repeating tradition for tradition’s sake, nor are we bound by what men in the past thought the Bible said. Instead, we carefully examine the text, its context, and its consistent message across Scripture to arrive at faithful, biblical conclusions.

Every teaching here is aimed at clarity, honesty, and depth—so believers can grow in confidence, test all things, and stand firmly on the Word of God.
