The BOTCHED Execution Of Tom 'Black Jack' Ketchum
In the Wild West there were many outlaws who were very feared and intimidating. Some criminals such as Butch Cassidy became infamous for their antics, but one man who was also well known was Tom 'Black Jack Ketchum. He was a feared train robber, and along with his gang they conducted scores of robberies in the New Mexico area. They would stop trains at gunpoint and hold them up, and they were very successful, with Black Jack having been a cowboy before.
But one robbery went very wrong, as Black Jack's brother was shot and captured before he died from his injuries. But then Tom Ketchum tried to hold up a train on his own, and with this a conductor then fired his shotgun at him. This resulted in Black Jack losing an arm and he was captured, but then he was placed on trial for train robbery. He was sentenced to death, and in the town of Clayton, New Mexico he was brought to a gallows that had been created. However no-one in the town had experience as an executioner, and Black Jack's execution went horrifically wrong.
