Monastery turned snake sanctuary
Burmese Buddhist monk named Wilatha turned his monastery as a partial sanctuary for big snakes that might otherwise be killed or destined for the black market.
It was first started five years ago as people brought captured snakes to the monastery. Sometimes even pest control department uses the sanctuary for temporary safe-keeping before releases them back to the nature.
Offering snakes to the monastery means people can gain merit rather than killing or selling. Snake meat is an expensive delicacy in some neighboring countries especially China.
Nearly 30 snakes are kept at at the Seikta Thukha TetOo monastery in Yangon.

ရန်ကုန်တိုင်းဒေသကြီး၊ မင်္ဂလာဒုံမြို့နယ် ၀ိုင်ယာလက်မှတ်တိုင်အနီးမှာရှိတဲ့ စိတ္တသုခတပ်ဦးကျောင်းတိုက်မှာဆိုရင် မြွေအကောင် (၃၀) ကျော်ကို ထိန်းသိမ်းစောင့်ရှောက်ထားပါတယ်။
ထိန်းသိမ်းထားတဲ့မြွေတွေဟာ စပါးကြီး စပါးအုံးမြွေအမျိုးအစားတွေဖြစ်ပြီး ကျောင်းထိုင်ဆရာတော် ဦးဝိလာသကိုယ်တိုင်ဦးစီးပြီး မြွေတွေအတွက် စားရေးသောက်ရေးကို တာဝန်ယူဆောင်ရွက်ပေးနေတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမီးသတ်တပ်ဖွဲ့အနေနဲ့ အကောင်ကြီးတဲ့ မြွေတွေကိုဖမ်းမိတဲ့အခါမှာလည်း စိတ္တသုခတပ်ဦးကျောင်းတိုက်မှာ ဘေးမဲ့လွှတ်လေ့ပေးလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။
စိတ္တသုခတပ်ဦးကျောင်းတိုက်ဟာ အဘရာကျော်ဆရာတော်ဘုရားက စတင်တည်ထားခဲ့တာဖြစ်ပြီး လက်ရှိ
ကျောင်းထိုင်ဆရာတော် ဦးဝိလာသကို အိပ်မက်ပေးခဲ့ရာကစလို့ မြွေဘေးမဲ့ခြံစတင်ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာတာလို့ သိရပါတယ်။
