For #Week43 of my #52Songs52Weeks songwriting challenge my assignment, in honor of Halloween, was to write a song using fairy tale imagery. So I wrote a song for a female artist called #Rescue. In takes the traditional fairy tale trope of “Damsel in Distress rescued by Prince Charming,” and flips it on its head. This song is for the ladies that ain’t in need of rescue! I put my diva shoes on and wrote an “I don’t need a man” song. As always, the lyrics are in the YouTube description.
