Launch School LS180 Intro To Databases Overview
This next section of launch school focuses on database foundations starting with simple PostgrSQL databases. This course is split up into the following sections:
Introduction to the course
Schema, Data and SQL
Relational Data and JOINs
Optimizing SQL Queries
The first part of the course discusses:
Welcome and overview of the course
Setting up a cloud development environment
Reading and Reviewing the Launch School SQL book
Reading the PostgresSQL documentation
Learning about the PostgresSQL command line interface
An “EASY” level assignment using the SQL fundamentals.
Quiz 1 for the Databases section.
I’m going to be doing this section of the course a little bit different as I will probably make 3 to 4 videos in this series, potentially one for every sub-section of the course.
I’m excited to get back to practice exercises for this section of the course which has a full 59 SQL fundamental exercises to go along with the Launch School SQL book.
I assume this section will be relatively short as most students mentioned that the database and network fundamentals sections took them about a month, while the database and network applications sections took about 3 months. I am going to try and work quickly without sacrificing the quality of my understanding. I’m hoping to stick to that schedule and spend no more than 4 months on both of these courses combined. Of course only time will tell but I am hopeful!
