Due to the positive response to my first Masculine Theme Journal • Handmade Writing Journal Flip-Through, mas... I am making another one as a step-by-step series of tutorials and this is #3.
A piece of scrapbook paper was the inspiration for this project. The pattern is of houndstooth cloth so I decided to design a jacket-pocket for a tag. I think it came out super fun and whimsical, and hope you enjoy the inspiration idea.
Check out the whole playlist for this journal::I'm calling this a Gentleman's Journal, inspired by Margreth on @SevenPlazaCreative, as it is a much better name and indicative of the masculine theme I am going for. Mine looks completely different from hers, of course. Do check out har channel, if you haven't already, as she is very creative and I am learning a lot from her. Margreth designs Printable papers and uses a lot of Tim Holtz imagery. Wonderful stuff. / @sevenplazacreative* * * * *
I am a classically trained artist of drawing and painting and think of journal making the same as any other composition - I look to create harmony, unity, cohesiveness. When I make a journal I am making an art piece and all the elements need to work together so that I don't make parts and pieces for journals ahead of time, I make pieces for individual journals appropriate for that journal.
