Normal Operators and the Spectrum of Normal Operators
We introduce the idea of a normal operator on an inner product space. These are the operators that commute with there adjoint. Normal operators are the standard class for which orthogonal diagonalization is valid as we will see later. These operators have the property that the eigenvalues of the adjoint are the complex conjugates of the eigenvalues of the operator, which we prove here.
