The Lower Blue Mountains Garden Club conducted a trip to Retford Park Estate the National Trust property left to them my the late James Fairfax AO.
The Victorian Italianate house was built in 1887 by Samuel Hordon. a merchant and stockbreeder. James Fairfax purchased the estate in 1964 and transformed it into a gentleman's estate. The house contains a fine collection of english furniture and a there is a beautiful garden.
