Make Your Own Bubble Bath Frosting!
Bubble bath frosting is a decorative BUBBLE BATH that sits atop a unique bath creation [of your choosing] that makes it extra special & finishes it off nicely, too! It’s completely customizable (color it how you want, garnish & decorate it how you want, pipe it with different tips for different styles of frosting). And, it adds bubble bath to your [already-amazing] DIY bath product! Who doesn’t love a bubble bath along WITH a bath bomb, or a lovely milk bath soak? Umm….. Yes, please!
Sieve together 1 cup powdered sugar & ½ cup SLSa [sodium lauryl sulfoacetate] (or sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium cocoyl isethionate) in a separate bowl. Add 2 tablespoons meringue powder & 3 tablespoons hot water to mixing bowl. Mix until meringue is dissolved & is white & frothy. While mixing on low, add ¼ cup of SLSa/sugar mixture at a time. Mix for a few minutes, then scrape the sides. Whip on high for approximately 7-10 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when frosting gets very thick, gets stuck in mixing handle, & has stiff peaks! ***NOTE: If frosting is too thick, add water, 5 milliliters at a time, until it isn’t. If frosting isn’t thick enough, add 1 tablespoon of dry ingredient (corn starch, powdered sugar, SLSa) until it is. ***I had to add 2 tablespoons of additional powdered sugar. *Remember to whip & scrape sides of the bowl with each addition! ***NOTE: I didn’t add fragrance oil; when I do, the color oxidizes in the frosting overnight, darkening the color to an ugly brown. If you’d like to risk it, add up to 15 milliliters of fragrance oil. ***Frosting will deflate if you add too much liquid colorant, or too much too quickly! After piping, add garnishes right away. ***The little containers of bubble frosting are very cute, but it takes an entire batch of icing for 1 container. This could’ve been somewhat caused by the frosting deflating. ***I feel like the more SLSa is added, the more the frosting deflates! DRY frosting at least 48 hours before handling it. The exterior becomes harder the longer it dries. Although it gets a hard crust on the outside, it’ll never be rock solid & will always remain a bit softer on the inside. TO USE: Crumble bubble bath frosting under running water to activate bubbles. *More bubbles are created with higher water pressure. RESULTS: This bubble bath works great! I only used a small piece & it filled my entire tub up with bubbles.
