Edo Kiriko is a carved glass craft dating back some 200 years, to a period when Tokyo was still called Edo. These glass works of art are decorated with exquisite designs, of which there are dozens of types, each with its own traditional meaning. Each piece is handmade using a process that demands great skill. Currently, there are about 100 active Edo Kiriko artisans, ranging from young to veteran, many of whom have become known for their fresh and original designs that help maintain the appeal of this craft.
