After Mandalore the Invincible was defeated by the Republic in the Great Sith War, Mandalore the Ultimate became leader of the Mandalorians, and they rebuilt their military and Basilsk war droids over several years.
Returning to the battle field, they conducted raids on the outskirts of Republic territory. Provoking the Republic into a response, the conflict became known as the Mandalorian Wars.
The early days of the war saw the Mandalorians easily advance towards the Core Worlds through a string victories. As the downfall of the Republic seemed imminent, a team of Jedi, led by Revan, joined the Republic forces. The Jedi shifted the tide of the conflict, driving the Mandalorians away from the Core.
The war ended at Malachor V, where the Mass Shadow Generator, a superweapon, was activated by Jedi General Meetra Surik, causing both the Republic and Mandalorian fleets to be destroyed in a gravity vortex.
