Andrew Carnie presents on the 4th Edition of his textbook Syntax: A Generative Introduction.
Video 1.4. "Universal Grammar"
Discusses the idea that given the need for explanatory adequacy, Chomsky proposed that parts of our syntactic system are innate and instinctual forming a Universal Grammar (UG). This video explores the evidence for this claim and considers one of the major objections to it: Language Variation. Carnie explains that language variation (e-languages) can be accounted for by parameters with variable settings as part of UG.
