The Markus Klyver Effect - A tale about endemic mainstream mathematics ignorance.
Cranks usually come in pairs or more. Klyver's first crank partner is someone called Zelos Malum. I met these two fools on sci.math. They were not the only ignoramuses as sci.math was a popular troll and crank hangout. There were the Dan Christensens (would repost the same nonsense comment and lies countless times over a period of years before he finally tired), Fred Feldhases, Jean Pierre Messagers and many others.
No matter how overwhelming my presented evidence is, these cranks could not be turned because a CRANK is one who cannot be convinced even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Typical tenured cranks are math professors and teachers. One can fix ignorance, but it is impossible to fix stupid. It's not a Herculean task, mind you! It's impossible!
