ENERGY STICK - KANNADA
Hi! My name is Rick Hall. I am the founder of a company called IGNITE, based in Nottingham, England. We try to get more creativity in science lessons in schools. I have been doing some experiment at the IUCAA Science Center in Pune, India. Today I am going to show you an experiment on how electricity is conducted with the help of an ENERGY STICK. This Energy Stick is from Steve Spangler’s store - but there are others available on the internet. This is a very clever device with a Battery on one end and a buzzer and LEDs on the other. To make it work I have to complete the circuit. For this I place my thumb and little finger of one hand on the two metal ends. Then the Stick starts to BUZZ. I actually completed the circuit with my body. I could also hold both the metal ends with both hands. Once again the current will flow through my body, and complete the circuit and the stick starts to BUZZ. Pradnya can also hold the two ends and make it work. Now we can be a little more ambitious. Pradnya holds one end and I hold the other. Nothing happens. But once we hold our other hands the stick goes BUZZ – meaning that electricity flows through both our bodies and completes the circuit. I can also touch Pradnya’s nose and once again the current will flow! And it is reciprocal!
Now all the children can join hands and you will see that electricity flows through all of them – completing the circuit and making the stick Buzz!
