TMNT A.C. Farley Leo Bust FINISH
The finished '92 TMNT A.C. Farley Leonardo resin bust. Aprox. 45 hours from start to finish. The original piece was stripped of the original flaky bronze finish, broken parts fixed, flashing filed, pock-marks filled, reassembled, primed in automotive primer, painted with Citadel paints and washes, and sealed with a matte sealer. I will still add some gloss coat elements and polyurethane varnish the shell once weather permits.
Definitely a labor of love, I tried to capture Leonardo's true ninja turtle awesomeness, opting for a realistic red-ear slider skin and box turtle shell coloration. I wanted to keep his tone serious, honorable, and true to the leader Leo is - the tone the original creators wanted him to always have. Of course, artist A.C. Farley didn't disappoint in providing a wicked sculpture, so much credit and kudos I send his way. Hopefully he will be able to see this video one day and will like this tribute.
I wish there were busts of the other turtles, and of Splinter too, but alas. Well, lets at least hope that the next live action TMNT film brings the fans a quad of realistic super heros they can finally be proud of...the gritty bad-asses they originally were in the comics...and are supposed to be.
