This week on HOW Mad Mimi we were joined by a very special guest, Sally McGraw, from Already Pretty: http://www.alreadypretty.com/
Sally, hailing from Minneapolis, MN, has been in the publishing, freelancing, and personal-stylist business for years, and now runs her own style blog. She focuses on dressing for your figure, and expressing your own authentic personality through your wardrobe.
We talked about the challenges that come with wearing a lot of hats as a self-employed writer and freelancer, and some tips on staying organized.
Sally also told us about how she got started as a style consultant, and shared some stories of the rewarding feedback she’s gotten along the way.
Making a living as a blogger and freelance writer is no easy task, especially at first. Sally talked us through some of the bumps in the road at the start, and shared some pointers for other folks hoping to start making a living in similar ways.
Thanks to everyone who asked questions! We had a couple of great questions from Gail and Alex, about tools for monetizing your blog, as well as comparing different traffic sources - you’d be surprised what kind of promotion leads to great traffic, and which don’t seem to do much at all.
Sally specifically mentioned BlogHer.com as a great resource for female bloggers, so be sure to check it out!
We talked a lot about how to monetize a blog in a way that makes sense, and truly provides value to readers. Honesty and integrity go a long way here! Sally also wrote an awesome post for the Mad Mimi blog with more tips on monetizing your blog without being sleazy. You can read that here: http://blog.madmimi.com/monetize-your...
Catch up with Sally on the socials, at Twitter: / sallymcgraw and Facebook: / alreadypretty -- she loves answering questions, and helping people, so don’t be afraid to drop her a line!
