Thanks all, for joining us, and Jay Tucker from Heyo.com!

Heyo, started by a Virginia Tech student in his dorm room about 3 years ago, has now moved across the street into a proper office in Blacksburg, VA. Well, proper enough to have a ping pong table. Jay is the Lead Social Strategist, and also wears many hats in the start-up environment.

We talked all about how Heyo can help you increase your Facebook capital and get signups, through contests and other social engagement. Heyo is focused on Facebook primarily because of ubiquity. Facebook is over 2x as large as the next most popular social platform. The average Facebook user spends 914 minutes a month on Facebook.

Heyo lets you create and share contests to your Facebook followers. There's no code required, and Jay says the hardest thing to do is pick what you're going to give away. They differentiated by their ease of use, and responsive customer care team. You may not be able to reach other companies, but you can HUG Heyo.

Giving away something that's related to your business, that's not necessarily your product or service, itself. Jay mentions that giving away what you actually sell can devalue your brand. But he recommends giving away something that's emotionally complementary to what you do sell. So, if you sell hamburgers, don't give away the hamburger -- give away the ketchup!

He had a great example of this in terms of a chiropractor who used Heyo to give away lumbar support inserts for your chair, and other types of support pillows, that their potential customers would be interested in.

Becca talked about how it's really important to not just give away an iPad or Amazon gift card -- while it's true that everyone wants one of those, they really just want the prize. They may not actually be interested in your product or service, and therefore are not a good lead. So yes, your list might be growing, but you're probably just going to lose all that growth once you start reaching out to them. By giving away something that ties to your brand, then your list is growing with "pre-qualified leads" that are going to be much more valuable to your business, in the long-term.

Jay has seen some crazy things at his time at Heyo -- anyone can use it! There was a buffalo farmer who used his Facebook page to give away some pounds of buffalo meat. And there was another fellow who made art with animal teeth, and saw a great jump in his followers by sing Heyo.

There are a few criteria that Jay told us about that qualifies someone as an ideal Heyo user. They recommend that you have at least 500 Facebook fans, and 1000 folks in your email list, already, in order to get the absolute most value out of a Heyo contest.

However, don't fret if you're not there, yet! The Heyo blog is a great place to check out for tips on gaining fans and boosting your numbers until you can get into that contest range. Check them out at blog.heyo.com
And the Mad Mimi blog is another great place to go for tips on increasing your lists: blog.madmimi.com

You can also use Heyo to connect your other social profiles to your Facebook page. Just enter in your social profile URLs, and Heyo will automatically create those custom tabs on your Facebook page.

Continually sharing good content, that is more globally useful to folks -- as opposed to ads or updates about yourself -- is always a good strategy. And Becca added that "cross-posting" other people's useful content on your page, will always help to increase your fans.
