The city defense fortress of BANDUNG during the Dutch era
As a result of World War I, many European countries sought to secure their colonies. The Dutch, including those who colonized Indonesia, built numerous forts between 1914 and 1916. One such fort, standing strong north of Bandung, is believed to have been built during the reign of Governor General Johan Paul Van Limburg Stirum. Its functions included communication, defense, and military barracks. Its presence can still be seen today, indicating that this site was once a base for the Dutch army to secure Bandung.
