Lightning Action 2x X Presses
Thanks for stopping by! This video is about completing the job Lightning Action using the X button to jump only twice. This is a TAS; this was done using save-states, and the final product was made by splicing the successful attempts together to make for a seamless viewing experience.

Immediately I have to address the Crawl Cancel (CC) I perform with the carriage at the beginning of the video. I have to do this to get into the prison area; this is the only way I know of to get into it without pressing X at least once. I use this specific carriage enough in this challenge that I gave it a name: the Carriage Crawl Cancel (CCC).
Getting the speed from the CCC works just like any other CC (in short, I cancel the crawling animation by using Sly's spin attack charge, which puts Sly's normal hitbox in a tiny space, so the game pushes Sly out of the tiny space, oftentimes at high speeds). But normally that speed is horizontal—how does that speed get redirected upwards? In general, it means running into a surface that's sloped upward, even slightly.
The road to the bridge slopes upward slightly which acts like a ramp and provides some vertical speed, then Sly bounces off the side of the bridge and goes flying to the left. From there I start doing midair cane swings, which preserves Sly's speed in air (normally when Sly's in air, his horizontal speed is soft capped at his walking speed, meaning if his h-speed is beyond his walking speed he'll decelerate quickly. Swinging Sly's cane midair nullifies this. Using this trick is called Cane Boosting). Then Sly rides up the side of the prison's cliff face and get enough height to land on the prison walls.
To get to the job marker, I have to use an X press to cross the gap you see at 0:35 but a normal jump won't cross that distance. So I use the Thief Slide gadget to gain speed, and a Cane Boost plus a jump to preserve that speed in air. Then I have to use one more X press to get to the first lightning rod.
After getting the next two lightning rods I have to use another CCC. This one took much longer to get right because for some reason it's rare for this CC spot to launch Sly high enough in the direction I need him going.
