Synth Stuff Ep. 81 - Alesis QS6
Hmm...looks like it might be time for a new camera? Anyway, the Alesis QS6 is hardly different from any other ROMpler around this time in the 1990s. As, dare I say, boring as synths like this can be on the surface, I find that ROMplers sometimes have really interesting textures, soundscapes, etc. Apart from a single piano patch, I focused mostly on these sorts of sounds for this video, and it's only a fraction of what's on here. For me, this is a nostalgic synth - I had a QS8 many years ago, and these days, I have the QSR, which is the rackmount version. Not something I'd suggest you run out and buy right now, but take one for a spin if you come across one in a shop. When you play an analog synth, you more or less know what you're getting. Not to say analog synths all sound the same, but sometimes sample-based synths like this can be worth keeping around. I know I do so.
