Rock star Jon Bon Jovi was praised by the police for helping a woman in distress on a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday night. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shared a video showing the Bon Jovi frontman and his team assisting the woman, who was standing dangerously close to the edge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River.
According to the police, Bon Jovi, 62, and others spoke to the woman and managed to bring her back to safety on the bridge. "It takes all of us to help keep each other safe," Police Chief John Drake said in a brief statement.
It appeared that Bon Jovi was in Nashville to shoot a music video on the bridge, as shown in separate social media footage. In the video shared by the police, a woman in blue can be seen standing on the ledge, holding on to the railing. While Bon Jovi’s team was setting up camera equipment a bit further down the bridge, the singer walked over to the woman with someone else.
Bon Jovi was seen waving hello and leaning on the railing next to the woman. After about a minute, he approached her, and with the help of another person, they managed to get her back onto the pedestrian walkway. Others then walked over to offer support, and Bon Jovi hugged the woman to comfort her.
Shortly afterward, the video shows Bon Jovi leaving the bridge with the woman. The Metro Nashville Police Department thanked the rock star on social media, saying: "A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge Tuesday night. Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety."
