Narrowsburg's Logging Days celebrates the heritage of the lumber industry that built the communities along the Delaware River. The New York State Lumberjack Association in partnership with the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce organizes the competition that features events such as the standing log chop, springboard, bow saw, two man saw, and the modified chainsaw competition featuring chainsaws made from dirt bike, snowmobile and other engines and are called Hot Saws which can have blades spinning at over 200 miles per hour. Competing Lumberjacks and Jills earn points from events held throughout New York to earn rankings in the State.
Peace, Love & Pumpkins is a walk though sensory experience on the grounds of the original Woodstock festival. The displays feature skeletons, creatures, pumpkins with lots of eerie lighting and special effects. On Friday Night Frights, live actors add to the atmosphere through portrayals of ghostly brides, musicians, ghouls, cavemen, zombies, aliens and other creatures. 2025 is the fifth year of Peace, Love & Pumpkins with the final night of the event falling on Halloween. The Honesdale Pet Pawrade is a fundraiser for the Dessin Animal Shelter features pets in costumes participating in a Parade around Central Park organized by the Honesdale Rotary Club.
The Holidays are on there way and the Pocono and Catskill Mountains have some great events like Hawley Winterfest and Dickens on the Delaware. The Hawley Winterfest takes place December 13th - 15th, 2024 and Dickens on the Delaware is on Saturday, December 14th from noon to 5:00 pm. Make a child's holidays bright this year by donating to the Holiday Toy drive for Pike and Wayne County. Both toys and cash donations are needed in 2024 to provide toys for children.
