A. Because America is in a crisis.
With Christian nationalists determined to usher in a Theocracy in the United States, war drums already beating ― and a movie about a coming Civil War set for imminent release ― we believe a look back at what the Founding Fathers chose to repudiate in the war for Independence is essential if the American 'experiment' with Democracy is to survive.
It wasn’t just the Divine right of Kings that went on the chopping block in 1776, but with it the notion of the church-state union that helped define it.
In our opinion, the best thing for America right now will be a campaign to educate its citizens as to what Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Franklin utterly repudiated ... and why! Trump or no Trump, for America's Christian nationalists to see where their feet are tending, we believe a study of the execution of Thomas Cranmer and the Oxford martyrs ― as well as a frank look at the Gunpowder Plot ― will be highly instructive tools for educating the masses about the fatal (yet totally predictable) results of unfettered religious zeal.
Sometimes the best way forward is a close look back.
