Lewes, the Gunpowder Plot & the Loud Cry.
Every year on the 5th of November, in Lewes (pronounced Lewis) in East Sussex, England, celebrations of a vibrant historical nature occur. It's bonfire night, when the attempt of a band of disgruntled Roman Catholic laity (and clergy) to blow up the British Parliament in 1605 is heartily remembered.
In November 2023, our producer, an assistant and I travelled to Lewes to film what we could of the celebrations. With tentacles spreading far beyond East Sussex, this foray would end up shedding enormous light on the prophecy of Daniel 7 and its New Testament sequel, i.e., that of Revelation 13.
Controversial? You bet.
Before we were through, we'd resurrected a tonne of history and invoked the names Torquemada, Medici, Mussolini, Eisenhower and Hitler. For every lover of history and Bible prophecy, these 55 minutes should prove not just intriguing, but indispensable to a proper understanding of events predicted by the Bible to occur just prior to the return of Jesus.
