Graduation 2022: Jack Ferguson
"If I could I’d want to work in a lab-based environment, that’s why I did my dissertation to get more lab experience, but even if I couldn’t get in a lab I’d want to use my degree. I’ve developed a passion for the field. I want to utilise what I’ve learned."
Jack Ferguson chose to study at SRUC after it was recommended to him by the LEAPS (Lothians Equal Access Programme for Schools) scheme. He started out on the HND course, and then continued for a further two years to complete a degree in Applied Animal Science.
During his time at SRUC's Edinburgh campus, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia, which meant he was finally able to get the help he needed to succeed in his studies, and hopes post-graduation to get a job working in a laboratory to further improve his skills.
